I flew to Nevada to do some product photography work which took me to California, Vegas and Arizona. A senior girl came up with the idea to meet up with me while I was in the area, for her Senior Portraits. I had known her family for years, they just moved back to the states from Scotland and together we planned an amazing senior session. I post poned my flight back to Seattle and instead waited for Olivias flight from Indiana to land. We spent the next 4 days exploring Nevada, Arizona and Utah together; all for her senior photos!
In the midst of one of our talks I ended up deciding that everyone needs to be a little more like Olivia. During our conversations, not once did she mention any sadness after having moved from Scotland to Indiana. Not once did she mention being offended by what all of the other girls at her new school thought of her. And not once did she question her character even after someone else did. Instead she exuded an obsessive gratefulness from having had the opportunity to live abroad. Instead she understood that her peers are yet to truly know her. Instead she remained confident in who she was inside and outside.
Everyone needs to be more
like Olivia, the 17 year old; obsessively grateful, confident, secure, and comfortable.
